Tarangire Highlights
Tarangire National Park is the sixth largest national park in Tanzania. The name of the park originates from the river which crosses at the middle of the park, the river is the only source of water for wild animals during dry seasons. The park is famous for its huge number of elephants, baobab trees and tree climbing African pythons. It lies a little distance to the south east of Lake Manyara and covers an area of approximately 2,850 square kilometers.
1 Night / 2 Days Safari: Tarangire National Park
Day 1: Transfer from Arusha to Tarangire National Park
Your safari begins in the afternoon from Arusha City where you will be picked up by your driver and guide in a 4×4 vehicle. You will drive across the Great Rift Valley to reach the lodge where you will get time to unwind, enjoy the scenery and dine in great cuisine. Your night will be spent at the lodge, comfy, readying for the game drive the next morning.
Day 2: Half Day Game Drive and Transfer Back to Arusha
After breakfast, you will be starting you morning game drive of the Tarangire National Park. Herds of up to 300 elephants scratch the dry river bed for underground streams, while migratory wildebeest, zebra, buffalo, impala, gazelle, hartebeest and eland crowd the shrinking lagoons. It’s the greatest concentration of wildlife outside the Serengeti ecosystem – a smorgasbord for predators – and the one place in Tanzania where dry-country antelope such as the stately fringe-eared oryx and peculiar long-necked gerenuk are regularly observed.
After your game drive, you will be heading back to the hotel to unwind and enjoy a sumptuous lunch. Your journey back to Arusha City will commence shortly after – concluding your safari of Tarangire National Park upon drop off.
